I studied Graphic Design as a mature student at Epsom School of Art in the 70s, gaining a Diploma in Communications.

A job in advertising followed in London, then in a studio in Croydon before a chance meeting with a fellow student led me into the cosmetics industry working for Gala Cosmetics, Mary Quant and Max Factor where I eventually became Senior Designer.

The Design Shop was set up in 1980 when I left Max Factor.

Based in Kingston upon Thames for 15 years, past and present clients range from cosmetics and toiletry companies, including Oriflame, Helena Rubinstein, Floris, Cuticura, Inecto, Taylor of London and Vivalis, to retailers in computing, interior design and the restaurant trade.

30 years of working free-lance has given me a wide spectrum of experience which I aim to bring to all my design work. I am skilled in the preparation of product mock-ups and the making of short-run invitations for parties, presentations etc. I run the studio using Apple technology (of course) and have access to a good base of outside suppliers for print, signage etc.

The latest addition to my skill base is bookbinding, repair and restoration as well as making new books and bindings. The link on the Books page will take you to my other website.
